RDS - Yet another London pirate now has RDS. _UNIQUE_ is on 101.2 MHz with the UK-style PI code of CABC. They're also using RadioText "HAPPY CHRISTMAS FROM UNIQUE FM"
RDS - London's Magic 105.4 (used to be Melody FM) is now radiating __magic_ as its RDS name. RadioText now "You are listening to London's magic 105.4" PTY is now "Pop Music".

RDS - A fourth London pirate now has RDS. UPFRONT_ is on 99.3 MHz with the unusual PI code of 6944. Ian Kelly also notes Point Blank on 106.9 MHz to the west of London radiate PS_Name: P.B_FM__ with PI code FFFF.

Station Lists - The CSDXC used to post online listings of Czech and Slovak FM stations. But these lists seem to have been taken off-line - the server now returns a "Page Not Found" error. Hence, after some work in Virtual PC, loading up IE 4.0 and Microsoft's East European language kit, here are PDF's of the listings as of June 1998.

You'll need Acrobat Reader 3.0, and they're both about 144 kb in size. On-screen they're not too hot, but they do print fine. If anyone has ArialCE font for Windows, it'd help me.
RDS - I've slightly reworked the UK RDS pages ... please check to see that your local stations are correctly listed. Please me with corrections.

Propagation - Nothing noted on FM. The recent tropo was better the further north you were in the UK. Down here in London, it was largely a non-event.

Propagation - Fair number of meteor pings 0530-0700. Only clear channels here in London are 107.1, 107.2 and 107.3 ... heard various bursts of French, German and ?? East European on 107.2 but nothing ID'd. Later noted VUKOVAR- had registered on the RDS for 107.2.

RSL - Heard Justice FM on 87.7 from Acton at 0715. This RSL is being run by Acton Police it appears. However, it's barely audible due to interference from pirates on 87.5 and 87.8.
RSL - Also heard something like Heartside Hospital Radio on 107.2 at 1230, though this might be a pirate relay since BBC R2 was here earlier this week. Later the RSL Fundamental FM was heard on 107.2 from Battersea.

Propagation - No E's and the tropo has almost died away. Much windier today as a weather front heads this way from the NW. 94.7 and 92.3 are the only listenable "dx" signals.
The Perseids peaked tonight at 2300 UTC, but nothing heard at all.

Propagation - Weak Germany around 0100, better at 0700 until fade out around 0900. Nothing to note afterwards.
This evening some return of tropo but only to Lille etc and weak Belgium by 2230.
Much better reception has been reported by John Faulkner in Nottinghamshire who is nearer the Northern edge of this particular high pressure system. London seems not to be favoured at this time. The high temperatures (31C again today) are giving good nighttime enhancement presumably due to temperature inversions over sea paths.

Propagation - Nothing to report ... it's been dead as far as I could tell. The rotor's finally given up, and the Yagi is beaming SE (could have been an even worse direction). But it does mean that I'm now stuck with all the London pirates blocking a lot of channels. No fun I can tell you. Worst (for dx-ing) is the Asian pirate on 87.85 variable which splatters from 87.6 up to 88.1 MHz.

After much searching, I found an Internet listed Station in Ptolemaida, Greece Studio 4 whose General Manager kindly answered my enquiry. Meteor Scatter - station noted in English at 0119 and 1123. Short bursts of reception, but can't immediately see anything listed here in the skip zone. Pings heard all night, mostly in pairs - the first with test tone (presume Sweden) and the second a couple of seconds later with music (Germany or Norway?). (Mark Hattam)
