Propagation - Nothing noted part from a few very short pings today on 107.0 ... curtailed due to a weekend pirate on 106.925 or thereabouts. Back onto 107.1 for overnight.

Propagation - Tried 107.1 therefore today. A fair number of pings, but all very short, nothing ID'd. Germany just edged in occasionally on tropo, but only very very weakly.
RSL - Radio Ramadan began their 28 day RSL this morning on 87.7 broadcasting from nearby Ealing. Probably them testing yesterday evening.

Propagation - Thought they'd be little going on ... not much RDS'd but there were many pings all day with Italy, Sweden, Germany etc. And at 1115 there was North American sounding audio, perhaps from tv channel A-6 on nominal 87.75 MHz.

Propagation - Nothing strong enough to be logged. There was a series of meteor pings on the 19th 0500-0730 giving Germany and others (Poland?), but none strong enough to RDS.
Website - I've added a search capability to this website. Give it a try from the main page. It'll become more useful when (if) I start breaking up this dxlatest page into smaller chunks, perhaps creating discrete logs pages etc. Anyway give it a try if you've got time.

Propagation - Noted an increasing number of pings from around 0035. But all were very short ... just fractions of a second. The frequency of pings increased steadily and appeared to peak around 0210-0215. But even then nearly all pings were very short. A few lasted for up to 30 seconds or longer, but all gave really weak signals. Nothing identified out of the weak background of stations ... just un-id's from Germany on 87.8, Italy on 87.7, and test tone on 87.6 MHz. Maybe the debris this year was much finer dust and particles, which burnt up at too high an altitude to have any radio (or visual) effects.

Propagation - Lots of meteor pings noted last night. Only 3 were strong enough to RDS ...
But listening to the audio recording there were many pings of France Culture that didn't RDS. There were many too that had blank carrier in the early hours, and later had something like Arabic or similar language - OM talk and drums. These seemed to be from a non-RDS station since some pings were definitely strong enough.
The new filters are a definite improvement.
Update - the ?Arabic station has been "pinging" all day. Sounds now like an Indian language, perhaps the Khalsa Radio RSL in Gravesend coming in via jet scatter.

Propagation - Lots of tropo for listeners in the North Midlands and North of England ... Poland especially coming in well. Down here in London, the tropo is yet to really open up. During the evening I'm just getting improved reception of the usual near French and Belgian stations. The new filters did allow 106.0 to come in between local London stations on 105.8 and 106.2 MHz.

Equipment - Replaced all 4 IF filters in the Sony SA3es with 110 kHz filters (Thanks BKL!). Selectivity improved somewhat, not earth shattering but better none the less. For instance I can now hear 88.7 Musiques and 106.0 RTBF-1 whereas before ... no chance. 88.7 is next to BBC R2 88.8 and 106.0 is sandwiched between Virgin 105.8 and Heart 106.2 MHz.

Propagation - Belgium fading in and out all night and most of the day, though too weak to RDS. Several meteor pings noted overnight, but most too short to be useful. Propagation - Didn't get home from work til almost midnight (local time), and thus just missed the meteor ping of the day.

Propagation - No meteor pings noted this morning, due to tropo signals. RTBF and HR3 were fighting for dominance all night. Belgium came in first with its usual just above the noise signal, but Germany then dominated 0530-0730 with long slow fades.
Belgium then made another bid for supremacy 1200-1400, with even its PS Name showing on the Sony.
I'm going to see about making RealAudio files as an alternative to AIFF due to filesizes. Any other suggestions?

Cornwall report - Not much to be heard in Cornwall on FM even these days. National and local radio is there but only from a few sites. Tried various sites in West Cornwall such as Penzance Sea front, Newlyn, Sancreed Beacon, Badgers Cross above Marazion. In fact the sea level locations were best in the mid-evening.

Propagation - Stayed on 87.9 overnight. Lots of Opalis bursts via tropo, but also one big one to Poland lasting around 3 minutes.
Nothing all day on 87.6 MHz apart from Premiere (Belgium) occasionally breaking through the noise. Then at 1702 R Cuore alone for 16 minutes. Couple of brief flashes of other PI's in the intervening hours.
Then ... WOW ... more Italy and Tunisia up til 2130 UTC. E's this late !!

Propagation - Nothing noted. 87.6 is splattered by both R Wimbledon and a pirate. Also a pirate on 87.9 in addition to the satelite tuner spurious emission from Southall on 87.85 ... in fact a quick scan produced 13 other pirates in the 100-108 MHz range alone, obviously there are yet more between 88-100 MHz. Weekends are definately not good times for dx-ing from here.

RSL? - Punjabi FM were testing earlier on 87.7 MHz, over-riding Insanity FM who are licenced there. If they are an RSL, they're very amateurish at present.
Propagation - Conditions very flat recently. Some slight enhancement this evening for the usual French stations, 105.2 Info, 104.7 Inter, though not 94.7 Frequence Nord.

Last night there were very peculiar F2 and TEP conditions between our 2.00pm and 10.00pm, around 12.00-20.00 UTC. Full spectrum of TV video and audio carriers. Carriers were received up to E3 video and R2 video, including R1 audio. Countries: Germany E2, Equatorial Africa E2, R1 vision and sound from transmitters north-east of Yugoslavia. Many others also...
Watch the north/south path in the late afternoon/early evening for the next week, in particular if the A-index goes below 5 or so!!!!!

FM - FLR has launched on 107.3 and is currently on a clear channel as received here. Luckily not too strong ... 16dB on the Sony ... so DX has a chance on 107.2 and 107.4 given continuation of non-pirate activity.
Sporadic E - Finnish DXers report Sporadic E today 0800+ on Band 1 and later up to 107 MHz from France, UK and Germany. Nothing noted here.
Es TV conditions on channel R1 with Tent. Hungary around 0845. Around 0900 also Austria on channel E2A, Italy on channel ItA and Slovenia on channel E3. Around 0955 Germany very strong on channel E2 and around 1000 some Italian FM stations fading for a few minutes below 91 MHz. At 1010 Germany also fading on TV channel E4. From around 1130 some FM stations from Germany, Holland, France etc. fading on the FM band all the way up to 107 MHz. Germany still on TV channel E2. Nothing on TV or FM after 1230. TV Es Conditions again in the evening around 1635 with Belgium on channel E3 and Holland on channel E4. Denmark also strong on TV channel E3 around 1650. E's FM Conditions around 1715 for 10 minutes with stations from Holland. Nothing on TV after 1730 but around 1745 England on FM with around 5 BBC R2 and BBC R3 transmitters under 94 MHz.
